Float off the Massage Table with Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress and promoting relaxation to heal using the energy that is all around you. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and around us, providing the energy necessary for us to be alive.

If your "life force energy" is low, then you’re more likely to get sick or to feel stress. If your “life force energy” is high, then you’re more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy."

So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

What Does a Reiki Session Feel Like?

A hands-on session on the massage table feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit inducing relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method to promote spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady, and creates universally beneficial outcomes.

Reiki is especially useful in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects, promote recovery, and reduce symptoms of stress, illness, anxiety, or unhappiness.

Are You or a Loved One Fighting Cancer?

Cancer can be an awful disease to confront on so many levels. As a survivor of Stage 2 Breast Cancer, I know this battle first-hand.

The rate of successful cancer treatments has increased over the years, but the side effects of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy can be draining and hard on the body and spirit.

Reiki has been proven to help reduce the pain and discomfort caused by cancer treatments. I offer Reiki therapy to patients at the University of Vermont Health Network Cancer Center at the Central Vermont Medical Center, as a support to patients’ treatments.

If you know of anyone who may be going through cancer at CVMC, please make sure they are aware of this service.

If you or someone you love is going through cancer treatment somewhere other than CVMC, my Reiki services are also available at my office in Barre, VT, and I am happy to travel for private sessions throughout the region.

Thank you, Sherry. Your talent for Reiki is the best way I’ve found to relax when too many worries in life pile up like a mountain.
